About Us
Welcome To Xcore
Xcore was founded with the goal of creating devices that are energy efficient, low cost, and robust. Xcore's first product was the ground breaking EduBook. The EduBook was designed to be the first practical laptop for students in developing countries. The EduBook is the world's most energy efficient laptop. The EduBook uses standard AA NiMH
batteries, making it easy to replace batteries. The EduBook is available in kit form that allows for local assembly that can create jobs and create skills where the EduBooks are used.
Xcore introduced the Xcore86 which was the first x86 device on chip that made it possible to build low cost x86 fanless devices like the EduBook. The EduBook has been upgraded with the newer faster Xcore86+. The Xcore86+ is 70% faster than the original Xcore86. Even faster versions of the Xcore86 will be announced.
Until recently, access to high speed ARM processors was limited to companies that could build hundreds of thousands of units. The ARM CPUs that could be bought in small quantity, such as those found in early low-cost tablets, were too slow, offered poor video performance and resulted in useless / low-cost products.
Recently, a new generation of dual core, low-cost ARM CPUs have come to market. Xcore has selected the All Winner A10 as its current reference ARM processor. The A10 provides very good processing speed combined with outstanding video performance. Products built on the A10 can play smooth 1080P video. In fact, the a10 supports a new format called 2160P.
Xcore is releasing three new products based on the A10. These include a low cost tablet, a low cost Android desktop PC and a 10.1 inch NetBook that will set new performance records for an ultra low cost laptop.
